Jess Zeiner will be joining us for a 2nd year as an assistant coach for the SVPAC Age Group Swim Team!
Jess is currently finishing her degree in Exercise Science at Lebanon Valley College while simultaneously serving a clinical rotation in Cardiac Rehabilitation at Lancaster General Health Penn Medicine. She has served in many leadership roles at LVC. She has been the Student First Responder for their Football and Lacrosse Teams for the last two years. She is also the Event Staff Coordinator for their Athletic Department. She is an instructor for BLS CPR Certification and she holds her certification in Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.
Jess began her swimming career over 15 years ago where she herself was a Schuylkill Valley Age Group Swimmer for 8 years. She went on to swim four years for the Schuylkill Valley High School Swim Team. One of those years she was also a diver. For the past three years, she competed at the collegiate level for Lebanon Valley College. She swam her summers with Bern Township, Wodenshire, and Leesport.
Jess has been coaching and/or teaching swim lessons, private lessons or swim clinics for 5 years. In 2014 she was an assistant coach for the Leesport Lightning Swim Team where she went on to become their head coach from 2015-2017.
Jess primarily specializes in butterfly and backstroke, but she enjoys teaching all of the strokes. She really likes to work on reaction times off of the block and underwater skills to shave time in races. She loves teaching new skills to swimmers and finding a balance between working hard and having fun. She also finds it extremely rewarding to see the swimmers achieve new goals and succeed in the pool.
Coach Dan Pfost will be on our SVPAC coaching staff again this season.
Dan received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Kutztown University.
He is currently a counselor at a treatment center in Lancaster County.
Dan began his competitive swimming career at the age of 5 with the Kutztown Dolphins. When he was 9, he became an inaugural member of Tri-Valley YMCA Swim Team. He continued to swim for them until he graduated from high school. He swam for both the Tri-Valley YMCA and Kutztown High School all four years. He was a 2 time YMCA National qualifier in 2001 and 2002 as well as a PIAA State qualifier in 2002. He went on to compete 4 years at the collegiate level at Kutztown University. He was all-PSAC in the 200 butterfly his freshman and sophomore years as well as a PSCA qualifier in 100 fly, 200 & 400 IM’s and the relays. A back injury during his junior year forced him to convert to a backstroker. He went on to qualify for PSCA in the 100 back, 200 back, 100 fly and the relays his senior year.
Dan began his coaching career an assistant coach for the Kutztown Dolphins where he coached for 4 years. He then advanced to their head coach for an additional 2 years. During this time he was also YMCA certified coach for the Tri-Valley YMCA Swim Team for 2 years and then for the Reading YMCA for an additional 2 1/2 years.
Dan is eager to reinvigorate his coaching career with our organization. He is a huge believer in relationship-development and team-building concepts that were implanted in him through his experiences as both a swimmer and a coach. Dan believes that we should look at or team; our swimmers, our coaches and our parents, as a whole. He feels that it starts with how we all feel about each other and how we all treat each other. He thinks that when we care about each other, we will swim through the wall for each other. That was the scaffolding that built his swimming career and what he wants most to achieve with this team and our organization.
